FR. MANUEL CANAL CANAL, C.M.
Fr. Manuel Canal, C.M. passed away last November 23, 2017 at the age of 82 in the infirmary of the Misioneros Paules in Santa Marta de Tormes (Salamanca).
Fr. Canal was born in Barbadanes (Ourense) on January 10, 1935. He entered the Congregation of the Mission on September 26, 1953 in Limpias (Cantabria). He was ordained to the priesthood in Perryville (USA) on June 10, 1962.
After ministering briefly in New Orleans (USA), Fr. Canal was assigned to the Philippines where he served for 17 years. The following were his assignments: Jaro (1964), Manila (1965), Jaro (1969), Polo-Bulacan (1971), Jaro (1978), and Tandang Sora - Quezon City (1980).
Fr. Canal returned to Spain in 1981. He was assigned to Santa Maria de Tormes (Salamanca) in 1982. In 1987, he was in Jerez de la Frontera (Cadiz). He was also missioned in Mozambique. From 2001 to 2007, he was in the Parish of Nuestra Senora de Altagracia. In 2008, he returned to the Casa de Santa Marta de Tormes (Salamanca). He also worked in the parishes of Gijon, A Coruna, Cordoba and Madrid.
On February 21, 2016, Fr. Canal stayed in the infirmary of Santa Maria de Tormes (Salamanca).
